Reigning Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Accolades.

The tennis star in action
Aryna Sabalenka ended the season with an outstanding twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old captured four titles – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a record ÂŁ11m in earnings.

She received almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level".

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking extended hiatus following the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
  • Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
  • Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
  • Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.
