Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
